The Mirror You Can't Hold
The Mirror You Can’t Hold
Rejection, deflection
Projection, projection
A profuse push of blame
With profound misdirection
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who is the most insightess of them all?
You say it is me?
No — it just could not be!
I am the truth
So why can’t you see?!
Everyone has done me wrong
My feelings are because — of what you — put me through
You have all wounded me
So what am I to do?
My actions are excusable
Because I feel you hurt me badly
I’ll be sure to remind you that it’s all your fault
While you distance yourself
Sadly
If I held the mirror up
The feelings would be insurmountable
I’d be forced to see my own demons
And I’d be held accountable
So I’ll keep that mirror
Locked away
I can hide that truth for now
Or forever
Meanwhile, I’ll continue to tell you
It’s all your fault
And with all my hate
I’ll continue my endeavor
