Come On England, Again
Fifty eight years have gone by
since the World Cup of sixty six
Twenty eight have also passed
since the Euros of ninety six
The last final held at Wembley
ended what began in Rome
Disappointment once again
when England didn’t bring it home
Now, the date is set for Sunday
the first final for three years
This time it’s England versus Spain
will it end in cheers or tears?
St George banners will fly high
patriotic brass bands will play
In pubs and clubs across the land
young and old will hope and pray
A buoyant army of fans
will sing football anthems so loud
Encouraging this team of stars
to make Gareth Southgate proud
They will sing songs of three lions
with a hint of vindaloo
Sweet Caroline will sound so good!
they will be whole again too
Could football really be coming home?
this time! can England win?
All will be revealed
at Olympiastadion, Berlin
The nation will come together
to cheer on their football team
Will all those prayers be answered?
dare we dream to dream the dream?

"If you can meet triumph and disaster,
And treat those two imposters just the same..."?
Kipling knew his onions about the English psyche.
Fair play chaps, win or lose. Hug OR shrug!!
