Stolen Summer

entry picture

Who stole the summer
There's a thief about
Who stole the summer
I'm going to scream and shout
Who stole the summer
I want an investigation
Who stole the summer
It's affecting the whole nation
Who stole the summer

I imagine myself content and calm
Sitting under an azure sky
Relaxing in an English country garden
At peace on a natural high
The blazing sun beating down
And not a cloud in  sight
A gin and tonic to hand
Everything is going to be alright

The weather has lost the plot
Blame it on global warming
The jet stream has gone off track
All I want is a beautiful morning
Oh to feel the sun on my back
All we get is cloud and rain
I am feeling sad and blue
Somebody help and ease my pain

Maybe I should leave the country
And head for sunny Spain
But then again it's another extreme
Scorching temperatures that fry your brain
Looks like I am going grin and bear it
Plenty of cloud and lots of rain
I will just go on holiday in my head
Totally recall enough said

Who stole the summer
There's a thief about
Who stole the summer
I'm going to scream and shout
Who stole the summer
I want an investigation
Who stole the summer
It's affecting the whole nation
Who stole the summer

You speak for many of us, Tom. The weather in Belgium, as in the UK, has been atrocious!

Hah...I recall a holiday spent in my old caravan in Devon years
ago when it rained most of August. The weather has never been
predictable - perhaps all the more reason why we remember
the good days with such affection. At least the water companies
have scant excuse for hosepipe bans and dire warnings about
reservoir levels....yet!!
