Shimmery

Poem after Isabel Galleymore.

The cute beaded sequin-embellished firefly
embroidered to the front of a recyclable blue
loves to be on the show so much.
Fashion arrays, boutique sales, forest floors,
and decades of its shimmery are uncounted everywhere.
When the invitation for us to meet outside is there,
the cute beaded sequin-embellished firefly is
a neon sign announcing a cafe's opening hours,
it's a small sample of an enduring installed art,
it's the energy after the lull in the afternoon
we find as we replicate the stand-out of
the cute beaded sequin-embellished firefly.
Oh, people with their joys collected all in a day,
nurturing summer.
Will it always be this way for the environment?
