Canada
I remember us in the tall
of balconied condominiums over there.
I remember the seemingly rainbowy effect
drawing us towards new clothes & music for sale
in exquisite gigantesque shopping malls, the
trust we will be hearing a hello, and have a nice
day tune from shop assistants at every shop door,
where billboards above advertised albums by Beyonce,
fragrances, and films, us becoming first in line
for viewing cinema screenings.
I remember the illuminated lit-up
evenings of everything always appearing open,
followed by musings to intersperse with noticing
the beauty of the wedding & venue
opposite our place to stay that the citizens
had one day assembled at.
I remember arriving where the family
emigrated to, the scenery they already saw,
the lakes that are fitting as an artefact for a
Gallery,
& their tranquil until, in it all, we were all now
well-versed.
I remember I raced ahead when opening
my 16th birthday envelopes of invites &
our itineraries.
I remember receiving a gift of daytime by
a sightseer's verdant green
Niagara Falls, a buffet's welcome
in a firework-like array of mandarin red,
repeats of our materialised dreams to meet up
together where coffee
chains were always emblemed & famous with
crimson & white in the beauty of Canada.
