BIRD WATCHING
I was sitting beneath a magnolia tree in the park today,
I watched as a bird landed on a branch full of large, leathery leaves and pink flowers,
How it landed with its wings spread out proud,
Those elliptical, alluring wings that shame the rainbow,
Left me feeling mirthful,
And I watched as it's tiny talons,
Firmly perched on the green, wet boughs
With a grip so tight that my heart fluttered.
It looked down towards me,
And its eyes,
Those brown eyes with shades of ocean blue,
Like the earth and the sky affixed,
Bore into mine with such a gaze,
That I could feel the tranquility it embodied,
The calmness within its tiny body,
And the freedom engulfed me,
And so I rose,
Like a human begotten wings,
And looked up to the sky,
Only to see the bird fly away,
And it was so small, as it became one with the sky.
