FACES
Faces,
Desperate faces,
Blank faces,
Resigned faces,
Passive faces,
Tired faces,
Shamed faces,
Stare at walls,into nothingness.
From the brink of the universe, from the edge of a cliff.
Nearly plunging deep into the ocean, sinking into the quiet of the night
It's like a near-death experience.
I fear mine is one of them,
In fact, I possess all.
I'm already at the precipice, falling slowly but surely.
Who do I let in, to take the edge?
Or to give me one?
To rekindle my embers?
So I can stare down death with something to live for?
So I can rise from the ashes with a new face?
A hopeful, buoyant face
An expressive face full of emotions,
A determined face full of resolve and optimism,
And a refreshed, proud face.
Who will bring the calm?
Who will speak the truth?
A tender touch, a voice to stand
To help me heal, to not feel alone.

Thank you Marla. It's encouraging to hear that.
