Sorry, In the Name of A Cloud
When I promised to be a cloud of shade,
To shelter you in the cool cascade,
I became the cloud that brought down rain,
Drenching your steps with sorrow’s stain.
The best I could do was let winds steer,
To drift me away, to keep you clear,
From soaking further in the storm I brought,
A choice to spare you what pain I wrought.
But know, in that moment, I fell apart,
A crumbling foundation, a broken heart.
I could not hold myself in place,
As chaos surged in my own space.
And so, I whisper with words that plea,
Sorry for what I’ve come to be.
The cloud that gave you rain did pray,
To stay with you, but was swept away.
