Titans of Greed

This poem is supposed to be a fierce indictment of unchecked wealth and power, calling for justice against those who exploit their riches to dominate and oppress. It warns of the consequences of greed and challenges readers to act decisively, through solidarity and systemic change, to dismantle the influence of the ultra-rich and restore equity.

The richest rise, their coffers swell,
While others toil in earthly hell.
Their riches forge unholy might,
Their hunger plunges all to blight.

They shape the laws to suit their gain,
And mock the pleas of the profane.
With gold, they purchase voice and vote,
And bind the world beneath their yoke.

No borders hold their empire vast,
No morals check the spells they cast.
They trade in power, lives, and lands,
While justice crumbles in their hands.

But what of us, who stand below,
Whose lives they claim, whose futures sow?
Shall we bow down, or lift our cries?
Shall we resist, or organise?

Unite the many, forge the fight.
Not with love, but with what is right.
Seize their wealth, their boundless store,
Tear their power to its core.

Cap their riches, clip their wings,
Restrain the harm their power brings.
Justice calls to end their guise;
No more empires built on lies.

For only force can stop their greed—
Not violence, but the laws they feed.
Rewrite the rules, take back the reins;
Restore the balance, break their chains.

Oh! if only.

At a very local level, this has been our experience.

After an eighteen-month brutal battle with our local Planning Department, We felt exhausted and defeated, it was too much for us at our age and it literally ended in tears.

I admire the spirit of your poem but the spirit can get worn down.

As working-class and elderly it was evident that we had no voice, with money we could have used a solicitor, without one we were helpless. We tried - we cried - the planning agent lied.

The world belongs to the richest.

Yeah but it's a "Trickle Down Economy", so everybody'll get their fair share eventually............won't they............?
