Slippers

entry picture

These are my slippers

I like them

They are cosy

They are probably made overseas

by some kind person working hard

I bought them at the little mailbox store across the street

owned by the nice friendly older (like me) couple

The vibe is they are conservative and I am liberal

But we like each other

"Live and let live"

Amen and halleluiah

The underside of my soft slippers

is super dirty

Like my house

Oh well who cares

I do, but not much

My soul is clean

Amen and halleluiah

I don't walk outside with these slippers

Thorns would poke my feet

When I go outside I wear my big girl shoes

Don't mess with me, strangers

Grandma "never met a stranger"

She was fearless

She drove all by herself from Cali to NY back in the day

In the day when lands overseas (her homeland) were bombed to

smithereens

Sigh

Sound familiar?

I like my slippers

Come on over anytime!

I might be wearing them

You can even wear your slippers

Hélène,
I love how you intertwine personal history, generational wisdom, and the acceptance of imperfections—both in your home and in yourself. It’s a reminder that we can find peace in the simplest things, even when the world outside feels overwhelming. Your warmth really comes through in these lines.
Regards,
Rolph
