A Poem on Schindler's List

There is a wonderful film called Schindler's List.
It is so very special and must not be missed.
It centres round a man called Oskar Schindler,
Who begins as quite greedy and a bit of a swindler.

But while Amon Goth is quite deranged
Schindler is a man who goes through a change.
And while terror prevails to the point of insanity,
Schindler is a man who shows some humanity.

And with his accountant, called Itzhak Stern,
Saw Jewish persecution with growing concern.
And they managed to save, with Schindler's list,
Over one thousand Jews from Nazi's evil iron fist.

This film is stunning and so captivating
And so I would give it highest possible rating.
That this film is disturbing must be understood,
But know it is also a film of justice and good.

His factory is still there, Stuart. We saw it when we visited Krakow.

Good morning Stuart,
I saw this film back in 1994, which feels like a long time ago now. Given its subject matter, I wouldn't call it a "wonderful" film, though it certainly left a lasting impact. The film presents, very bluntly, the cruelties of the Nazis against Jews and others, showing the brutal reality of the Holocaust without sugarcoating or romanticising it. It’s a powerful and painful reminder of a dark chapter in history, and though it's not "wonderful" in the traditional sense, its stark portrayal is both important and necessary. Your poem is very successful, as it brings this film back to life through its references.
Regards,
Rolph
