Erased In Silence
In a sweeping and alarming move, the U.S. government under Donald Trump
has ordered over 6,000 living immigrants—many of them Latino and legally
residing in the country—to be added to a federal death registry. This bureaucratic
sleight erases their Social Security numbers, cutting them off from work, healthcare,
education, and basic legal existence. The tactic, reportedly coordinated with
Elon Musk’s agency for government “efficiency,” bypasses courts and due
process, all under unsubstantiated claims of criminal ties. Even children
have appeared on the list. Critics call it financial erasure—systematic, silent,
and devastating.
They marked the living as deceased,
Though none had died, nor breathing ceased.
Six thousand names struck from the roll,
Erased in part, erased in whole.
Their numbers gone, their rights revoked,
By policy the law provoked.
No work, no aid, no legal stay—
A silent purge done in this way.
They came through channels Biden made,
By rules the former White House laid.
But now the programmes meet their end,
And with them, all the means to fend.
The list that blocks the falsely dead
Now holds the names of those instead
Who walk, who speak, who broke no rule,
Yet lose their job, their right to school.
The White House said they posed a threat,
But offered nothing proven yet.
No charges filed, no court review,
Just claims without a shred of due.
From Musk’s own branch, the names were sent
The same day legal rights were rent.
No judge, no hearing, no defense—
Just data moved without pretense.
Some children, too, were on the sheet,
Their status marked in full deceit.
And even staff within the walls
Have questioned if this order falls.
Then ICE received the names and more,
As IRS was shown the door
To hand off tax reports and trace
The whereabouts of every case.
Eleven million still may fall
To systems built to screen and haul.
Not tried or charged in court or stall—
Just vanished by a data call.
