Earth, Our Mother Earth
This is the headlining poem I will be performing at the Green Day, Egerton Park, Egerton Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, on Sat, 31st May 2008.
Earth
Our Mother Earth
By Alvin Culzac
People of the World
The Reckoning is almost upon us
Dark clouds are gathering
And the horizon melts
Before our very eyes.
But whom amongst you
Can see the visions of?
The extinction of Man?
For the World is in the grip of Lunatics
Juntas and Speculators.
They think it’s blooming right
To make you work all stinking night
High-tech slaves who cannot fight.
Trapped in doldrums, mediocrity
Heavily exploited mercilessly
And despite the onslaught of technology
There’s been no change
No change, since the last century.
But now speed and greed
Is killing the World
Mankind is in a hurry
To rid the Earth of all it’s got.
He’s encroaching the Rain Forests
For heavy duty burning
He’s consuming!
He’s defecating!
He’s destroying!
He’s got massive ships fishing
On the oceans, vacuum cleaning
All marine life sucked up
Only rubbish for returning.
On this highway to oligarchy
Multitudes are dying
So that someone somewhere
Can over-accumulate on his plate
More than he can eat.
But hear ye now this prophecy
This Earth, our Mother Earth
Will awaken from her slumber
And you will become a statistic
As tornados descend in battle formation
Tsunamis will clear a path to your door.
You will hear El Niño
Knocking quite clearly
As you’ve never heard him before.
There will be fire and brimstones
Sizzling hailstones, the super hot sun
Searing through the missing O-Zone.
Soon all will be clear
As darkness descends
And the moon disappears
