17½ and Happy
“Oh Paul, I shall understand
If you don’t forgive me,”
She says on his doorstep
In a very sorry state.
“Will you?” he asks, “I wouldn’t.”
Then no more can he wait.
He scoops her up off the ground
And carries her inside.
And kisses her until they feel weak,
Until their tears have dried.
Kai, the collie decides to leap up
To greet the young newcomer.
Laughing, she bends to stroke the dog,
Earning three big licks on her nose.
He takes her coat and looks long
At her inviting cleavage,
Slowly, he shakes his head,
And mutters, “Quite ravishing.”
Happily, she smiles at him
But cannot help but blush.
“I bought you a present,”
He says ever so casually.
“I was going to bring it later.”
“What?” she cries. “A present?”
“I don’t deserve it!”
He smiles. “Hey Penny,
Let me be the judge of that.”
He shows her the door to his lounge,
Suggesting she wait there,
Before going into his bedroom
To collect her present from within,
But in wild anticipation,
She recklessly follows him in.
He holds the gift up, teasingly,
She leaps up in the air.
Somehow they end up on the bed,
He ruffles up her hair.
The gift is a white gold locket
She’d admired at the jewellers
While they had chosen the ring.
He had gone back to buy it
Earlier this very morning.
Overjoyed and delighted,
She can’t believe her luck.
They give into their feelings
And devour each other up.
Nothing else that either can do
No help from up above
So because they simply have to
They make wild passionate love.
Much later while recovered
He says sorry for spoiling her dream.
“So fantastic and you apologise?”
She’s the cat that got the cream.
This doesn’t have to stop her
Walking up the aisle in white,
After all, she reasons
All that really matters
Will be marrying Mr. Right.
