three signs

I asked for three signs.

I found

a rock crystal in the earth

when I planted a rose.

I saw

a seal suspended

in the curtain of a wave.

A storm came

lightning woke me

thunder bruised

the sky.

I asked for three signs.

Now

teach me how to read them.

I liked the enigmatic feel of this poem.

Want, want, bloody want, eh, Ann?
not only do you want the signs bringing to you, you wnat someone else to read them for you.
All right, to be serious, it works well though (just my own humble opinion etc) I would have preferred it to finish at the word 'sky", to increase its mystery and appeal.

Thanks for comments. Graham, I did not envisage a "you" character, I just asked. That's how I envisaged it anyway. Any meaning : the crystal stood for someone's soul. The seal was their solid body. The thunder storm was the mystery to me (as all three things were found/seen on the same day). Maybe a mental state?

I love this!
My 'interpretation' is as follows (loosely you understand)
Love on an ocean wave and behold the applause :-)
Seals cannot drown.x

I like this. How to read the world? Watch out for the priests and gurus...

Simple, imagistic elegance.

To make the last line work I would have said "I asked you for three signs" in line one.

After you took some crystal meth you hallucinated and fell asleep. Now is the time to give up drugs and sleeping in fields!

It wouldn't be a white feather you were looking for by any chance?

I would agree with Steve - this is elegant and mystifying. I like the ending - there is a sadness to it.
