he kills animals

He kills animals

My sadness is wasted
In this supermarket aisle
All your remains
Are shrink wrapped
And a handsome farmer
With clean hands
Smiles
On the package
They want you to believe
It’s going to be ok
But it never is
And never will be
The scream of children
And the fumbling of an OAP
The chaos and the Que.

He kills animals.

He passes the t-bone
The rows of the overthrown
Animal
The people zoo
Butcher
Oblivious
The supermarket toss us a bone
On tv a catch tune
Every bit of bastard helps
Every little bit
Smudged
Every little bit
trudged
to  aisle eighteen
The meat aisle
One of many.
They remove the picture of the pig
They don’t want you to associate that this was
A living thing
He kills animals you know
Hey! Little child of four years old…
That man on that packet-
He kills animals
I thought I better let you know
What your parents are doing
When they tow you around
I hope they teach to kill with bear hands
We wreck the planet with commerce
He kills animals.
And the silhouette of a sunset cow
Makes it pretty and nice
Makes it break biscuit
Tea dipping ok
After a hard shop
After a mop of sanity is gone
You imagine the feathers
The return to roost red crest
Chicken breast free range
Images removed
replaced
With just a sunset
A cartoon character happy
Happy chicken
You’re kidding, right?
Your kidding you fool
The spool unravels
And the ghastly tools they use
They kill animals.
Happy sickle reaping automatic
Death machine
In the abattoirs
You’re kidding, right?
You’re an animal right?
You’re a spender
You’re a trolley pusher fuel sender
Out of shopping list
A panic buyer
A Mother twisted blanked it out
Don’t wish to think of the blood spilled
Or the screaming of the slit throat
The goats milk
The antithesis
Fails
To impress me
You all fail to impress me
You lemmings
You blank faced feelings
The roots and the stemming tide
Of sense
Betcha won’t kill with your own hands
You need a menu to exist
You need it laid out
Every egg
And every twist in your life mapped out
Every pathetic plastic high tech toy
Every stupid piece of sunny delight
Every fucked up flight bar false
Every wrapper
Every biodegradable unstable lover
Part
Every winos piece of pavement art
Scratched in lino leading me the way
To the latest promotion of liquor
Meat and alcohol
Meet and children
Meet and mother
Meet and cling film
Meat and white hats
Meat and caveats
That it’s the last time
Animal rights, frown
As peer pressure quells the curiosity that
You may have tried it
But no
Too much pressure
But no
The spare tyre frequent measure
Of your waist line fatty
You have found rind
It has solidified
Upon a backside
Permanent and parked
On British home stores
Or the narcissism
Of a lounge suite
And look upon your feet they trudge as droll as I do
And I elevate myself but am somehow
As bad as you as I allow
This
But to stop it impossible.

Welcome death from battery cage
The rattling drum
Sticks to the ears
That fed corn
It grew in your ears
And I gave up trying to pull it out
I’m wasting my breath on you
I’m trying to convince
But I’m one of the few
You- a supporter of paraquat
You a blind supporter
You are not interested
As long as it tastes good
Your aroma scent your hell bent
On meat
On meat from farmer whellie feet
Squeegee
And trudge
The fucker never saw a lump of natural soil
In his life
You spread the animal seed
You use syringe with bull semen
You need profits and rushes
You need isolated bushes
To break the monotony
Else you would look bland
He kills animals
He kills animals
You’re kidding right

He kills animals.

You have captured the unpalatable truth of the situation in this poem Pete. Good performance poem. I can see you now, giving it lots of "wellie". Good work

Wow. Loved your poem and I'm a smug veggie (and now contemplating veganism).
Thanks :)

Hello, Pete

I am not much of a meat person and never was. I like fish on occasion and love natural foods. I am upset when the animals are being tortured kept as slaves to be fatten and sold to the butcher shop. That really annoys me that my stomach turns around. Sorry…The cave people were hunting for a natural animal and they consume raw meats. Still our Eskimo people are doing that on the far North. They seem to be healthy people. The picture you have in your poem show the meat being poisoned disgusting to eat. When our children getting obese and sick so the adults too. Chemicals given to the farm animals rose on the farm. Yes, it is scary world now days. Thank you for the thought provoking poem. EXCELLENT!!

Kind Regards,
Zuzanna

Great Poem Pete,
Sounds like you saw the same show on TV that I saw.The cows and bulls, dont even look like cows and bulls I saw as a kid. They are breed to be huge, pumped full of steroids, and antibiotics, feed antibiotics daily, and doctors wonder why humans are now resistant, to many antibiotics that worked for years to get us well.Machines kill the animals, its mass production. I have to say that I was raised eating meats, and I enjoy it, till I think about a "normal" cow or a" normal "chicken, that does not exist anymore, and I feel sorry, for the animal,I guess I even feel sorry for the mutants, created by scientist. If I could live on deer and fish,or some form of turkey, I would be glad for it! I dont think its wrong to eat meats, its wrong to get fat and lazy, its wrong to waste foods, when others go hungery in the world. Its wrong for "farmers" modern scientists to put drugs in the foods that cause people to get sick and fat! great rant!
