my unselfish lover

My unselfish lover

Her smile she never charged for
Her illuminated eyes
Lit boulevards
And we tiptoed
On promenades
In the midst of summer
Hand in hand my unselfish lover

and just then I realised

I love my unselfish lover
She bakes me cakes
Ask's for only,
me in return
&
reminds a man,
of a mother
warm
Smothers me.
She-
Intent,
That I,
am me.
She is
No one else
An unselfish lover.

This is so beautiful!
There is nothing more exhilarating than having someone
accept you for who you truly are...
and feeling free enough to be completely yourself : )

Lots 'going on' i feel, in just a few simple lines. The true beauty of poetry.
Do you have a garage where you keep these poems Pete? A lock-up, maybe?
I actually prefer this more gentle sounding PC than the one that i read and sense the ranting. I absorb more this way. Beltin' (as they say in Wigan).

Oh Pete. this is such a beautiful poem. I love the easy style, the repetition of first and last line, the internal rhythm and rhyme. Enchanting Pete, enchanting.
