LAUNDRY

LAUNDRY

The yellow, pale from the beginning,

Has faded to a pleasing cream.

Linen, lined like parchment,

In need of an iron.

From this shirt an Auden

Could be fashioned.

If his spirit does not mind

My domestic irreverence.

Better than polite disdain

Is to consider this a poem.

Like the referencing of Auden and his comments on free verse. A very fulfiling, complete and pleasing poem.

Hi Geoffrey - thought this was a very nice cameo - unusual topic an ode to a shirt but it is that originality that makes it work for me
