Pete Crompton Wins Hebden Slam!

entry picture

In an exciting and high quality slam Pete Crompton (pictured) won the 1st Hebden Bridge, Fringe-Festival slam on Monday 9th July in an extremely close finish. Second was the magnificant Tony Walsh with the inventive Tom Croft coming an honourable third.

However, the occasion has been over-shadowed with the sad news that Seamus Kelly, who was to have been a contestant in the slam, couldn't attend after being attacked by a group of youths, having his jaw broken and having to spend the evening in A&E. We hope he recovers soon.

Thanks very much for organising the event and for the encouragement!

Seamus - very sorry to hear about what happened, I was similarly attacked 3 months ago and I still get nervous when I'm out at night! Get well soon.

Thanks so much for the concern here and in the earlier discussion. I will be recovered soon enough and am looking forward to eating solid food.

I was going to perform my poem - The Hood - which is ironic considering what happened to me.

Congratulations to Pete - I've never heard a bad poem from him and I'm glad to hear that he won, congratulations also to Tony and to Tom Croft who I believe I saw for the first time at the recent WOLl event at Stubbins Warfe
