Chanje Kunda at Chorlton arts festival

Chanje Kunda will be reciting Afro-centric poems from her forthcoming collection Amsterdam at the Iguana Bar, Chorlton on Saturday night, 21 May. Appearing with her at this Chorlton arts festival event will be special guests including Usra Warsma, Akiel Chinelo, Shirley May, Segun Lee French, and Chris Jam. There’s also a jam session and open mic. From 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.  More details and map.

Another Chorlton arts festival event billed for the same night is a Stirred open mic from 7.30 at Wilbraham St Ninian's, Edgerton Road South. Get your name down by emailing stirredwomen@gmail.com or getting in touch with Anna Percy or Rebecca Audra Smith. Stirred is a women-friendly event, where the focus is directed towards female performance, although men are welcome to perform their own work. Open micers have five-minute slots, guests 15 minutes. All for the price of £3, including a workshop from 2-5 at the same venue, for those who'd like to get pen to paper.  Map
