Spreading the word: independent poetry presses show off wares

Two fairs are displaying the wares of independent poetry presses this Saturday – in Leeds and London. Leeds Independent Presses Poetry Festival (LIPPfest), at The Carriageworks theatre, Leeds on 24 September, includes an independent presses book fair that will give people the chance to browse through a range of literature not to be found on the shelves of the average bookshop, as well as readings, workshops, symposiums, and publishing talks. In October,  the focus switches to Birmingham  with States of Independence (West), a celebration of independent publishing on Saturday 8 October, from 10am - 4pm, at Eastside Projects (Gallery), 86 Heath Mill Lane, Digbeth, Birmingham. B9 4AR. Publishers who will be there include Shoestring, Leafe, Cinnamon,Nine Arches, Penned in the Margins, Five Leaves Publications, Flarestack, Sidekick, HappenStance, Tindal Street and Offa’s.
