True Love Starts...

entry picture

True Love starts with an open heart,
and then becomes a wish to never part...

True love starts with an open  mind,
and grows with every action kind...

True love starts with a gentle touch,
and blossoms with each kiss and such...

True love takes over all our dreams,
and makes us think up wondrous schemes...

True love powers us through troubled times
and grants forgiveness for thoughtless crimes...

And True love can truly conquer all for those,
who know that inner beauty beats a red, red rose...

Hi Larisa,

Sorry, I had assumed the question was a rhetorical one.

It was when I saw the picture that I was inspired to pen the poem - the words were already overlaid on it.

The question is really quite a deep one and probably has many answers according to the views of the individual.

However, to me it doesn't seem right to say that love starts nowhere - but you could say 'True love came out of nowhere' which would perhaps be taken to mean much the same as 'Love at first sight'.

Does that help at all?

Best wishes, Dave

This word 'somewhere' sounds very uncertain. But...it's just my opinion .

I repeat my question again, but ....in a different form: Is it possible to say in English : A true love starts from nowhere but....after a certain period of time it comes to somewhere. The words were taken from your picture.

I wouldn't like to say that this poem is sentimental. It is more mental It's true, it's sincere. that's why it is so dear.

Honest sentiment and sentimentality are unrelated. I like this - coming as it does from the heart.

Hi Noetic - thanks for commenting, it is much appreciated. I guess red roses 'crop up' in quite a few poems, though dear Spike's 'The New Rose' is perhaps the poem you were alluding to - the one where the baby discovers their thorns...

I wonder why thornless roses aren't cultivated - have they never been admitted to Eton? ;)

Best wishes, Dave

I like the last line in-particular in this poem. I dont know if you know of Spike Milligans poetry, but he makes reference to the red rose in one of his more famous poems. A reference to beauty and how that beauty can be laden with thorns. I remarked to J Williams about his poem on the heart, i will say the same with this one. The simplicity of the poem centers the soul to how fragile the heart is.

Nice one dave.

best wishes

noetic.
