LAST POST

There's this to say for getting old:

You take more care against the cold,

And value each new day.

And this to say for getting old:

You want to keep and not to scold

The children at their play.

And this to say for getting old:

It's always welcome to be told

To take a seat and stay.

And this to say for getting old:

You may not be so brash and bold,

But still you have your say.

There's this to say for getting old,

With silver threads among the gold,

And loved ones gone away.

At least you got to getting old!

And when at last life loses hold,

Salute and draw your pay.

Grow old along with me - the best is yet to be...
Hey John Coopey - are you a racing man? I was
checking the race cards for an American meeting
and discovered a trainer named Randy Lovin.
You couldn't make it up But they always say truth is stranger than fiction - and sometimes
almost as entertaining!

There's this to say for getting old
Each public lavatory's pure gold
And always worth inspection.

There's this to say for getting old
I never fail to take a hold
And waste a rare erection!

"At least you got to getting old!

Those lines really jumped out at me. This is one of my favorite subjects to read. I love to see how people express this, and let me just say, you have done a stand up job!

I guess that age can take away the presumption
of good health and the inferred superiority of youth. Freedom can come with being able to say and do what you want after a lifetime of
being held captive saying and doing what was
expected. It's termed "eccentric" and no worse
for that. I prefer "curmudgeon". :-)

Nice rhyme and pace - and good to see some positives in getting old... Some old people tend to think their age gives them an excuse to say exactly what they like without wrapping anything up. I'll probably be one of them :)
