Deception comes in many forms

And takes on many guises

Expected tricks and underhands,

As unforeseen surprises

It strips away trust's sweet veneer

It crushes hope's foundations

But when it creates indifference

It destroys united nations.

Brief and to the point. The lesson is there to
be understood. Sadly, politicians being what
they are, it is a constant struggle to see that
happen.
One thing - I am not sure about the follow-on
from "Expected" to "unforeseen".
