CAROL

Soothed within it`s scythe of sand

The docile sea dozed at her feet,

Scarce a breeze disturbed the land

And the distance was a hush of heat.

The sun`s light shimmering from the skies,

Lit the bay-sea green and blue,

And glimmering down her deeps of eyes

Lit her guileless soul all through.

She stood where land and water meet

Erect in all her simple charms

While Neptune, gently, at her feet

Laid his long salaams.

She offered me her hand and I

Helped her climb the grassy slope,

Where she took possession of the sky

And wore it`s azure cope.

Since then my heart is captive still,

And will forever ever be

Carol`s…of the high green hill,

Queen of the sunlit sea.

Thanks all,

I can`t help it, I was well into my forties before I realised that there was anything else worth writing about. (I`ve got this terrible conscience about not doing enough `suffering` stuff)

Love it, Harry. You do romance like no one else in my book. A delight to read.

Some lovely lines in here Harry; my fave being '...and the distance was a hush of heat'. 1st line 'it's' should be 'its' though; and perhaps you might rejig the punctuation to let it read more, um, succinctly? Other than that, lucky Carol! Oh, and shouldn't 'bay-sea' read 'sea-bay'?

Harry - you should be poet in residence for
"Cosmopolitan" and be properly remunerated and
appreciated for your devotion to the fair sex.
