Roll up for London's big poetry book fair

entry picture

Poetry lovers who prefer to browse among books and leaf through pages, rather than buy online, will have the chance to sample the wares of more than 50 publishers at Free Verse, a poetry book fair being staged in London on Saturday, 8 September. Names such as Anvil, Arc, Candlestick Press, Burning Eye, Cinnamon, Flipped Eye, Happenstance, Nine Arches, Pighog, Seren, Smokestack, Stairwell, Templar, Ward Wood and many more will be represented at the Candid Arts Trust galleries, in Torrens Street, near Angel tube station. To add to the atmosphere and enjoyment there will be free readings all day, from 10am to 5pm. More details

Sorry about the short notice, MC. I looked in there today and it was much bigger than last year, on two floors. Went on from that to a work colleague's leaving do, and was introduced - it's still a big organisation, and we work different shifts - to another work colleague who had also called in there. Turns out he's got a collection coming out with Salt in the autumn. His name's Luke Heeley.

This very short notice leaves no time to chase up my own London-based publisher (with a poetry imprint) to push for representation of their clients' interests at this event. Disappointing not to be able to seize the day!!
