The theme of the competition is LONGING.
Writing must be about Liverpool, the Mersey or Merseyside, although you don't have to have any connection to the city or even to have visited. There are just a few simple rules you must stick to:

• Your entry must be non-fiction prose, ie. not fiction, poetry or drama.
• It must be between 50 and 500 words, the shorter the better.
• We’re looking for evocative, strong, concise writing. (As we are keen to see entries from the widest possible spectrum of people, this takes priority over perfect English.)
• We will run workshops in Merseyside to encourage new writers – keep an eye out for details from next month.
• Up to two pieces can be submitted per person.
• Entry deadline is Sunday 17 June.
• Judges’ names to be confirmed
• All rights will be assigned to the publishers.
• There’s no entry fee, but include an SAE if you want to be contacted by post rather than email, please.
• Please email us for an entry form - all submissions must be accompanied by a completed form.
• Entries will not be returned, so please keep a copy of your entry and submission f
