THE NEED
THE NEED.
Have you ever felt the need to pray?
Did you get on your knees?
What did you say?
Have you ever felt the need to say
You have to pray
Because your life is savage?
Did you ask for help
Because you couldn’t manage
On your own?
Making decisions,
On your own,
Healing divisions
Within the family
You have to care for.
I have.
And I don’t believe.
In our lives we look for answers.
We look for solutions,
Like the answer to cancer.
There isn’t one, not yet.
I looked.
While my sister passed in slow motion.
There obviously is no magic potion.
You would think lessons had been learned.
Like the time my youngest son was burned.
Not by fire.
Not by flames.
He nearly died though
Just the same.
As I looked on helpless,
I thought “It can’t be!!”
Could he really lose his life to a cup of tea?
He nearly did.
I was there.
It was then I realised I needed help.
I couldn’t do it all by myself.
Where do you go though?
Who do you see?
When everyone’s saying,
“Don’t run to me!!”
“I don’t have the answers.”
Is all they can say,
Then shuffling their feet they turn away.
I’ve always said,
“If you cut me I bleed.”
I’ve always said,
“A God I don’t need.”
But I prayed.
I prayed for life,
I prayed for my son.
I promised my life,
MY will be done..
I would have asked the Devil incarnate,
And rued my decision at a later date.
Needed then but forgotten now.
Needed then I’ve forgotten how,
Things were mended
Then put right.
It seems it was easy in hindsight.
I promise it wasn’t!!
But I still don’t believe.
Until I need more than me,
Again.
That’s when I’ll get on my knees
Again.
And pray.
