Turning Away
Turning Away
It doesnt start that way
But once we get talking
(about someone/something unrelated)
We hatch the beginnings of an argument.
Eventually
I turn away
And begin to practise those kind of breathing noises
That you associate with being asleep.
I carry on like this for fucking ages
Then
Just when I think the other half's out for the count
I find myself desperate for a piss
And shuffle reluctantly
To the bathroom.
On my return
I fall into bed
Facing the wall
Eyes scrunched up tight
Hoping for no reaction
No confrontation
I try to loosen up
Physically
Mentally
But the sound of fingers
Drumming rhythmically
On the bedside cabinet
Jolts me back into reality.

Oh what exciting bedroom games you play, John!
There's nothing worse than going to bed on an argument - no-one sleeps. I enjoyed the humour in this - I would be that person trudging to the toilet for a piss :)
