A NAVY MAN
Prince Philip is a navy man -
Navy through and through;
His eyes some far horizons scan
And his humour's salty too.
A scion of the restless sea
Who found himself ashore,
Away from his naval family
And the distant ocean's roar.
Never one to talk of self,
Of things he's done and seen,
He put his charts upon the shelf
And pledged to serve his Queen.
For decades now he's steered Her Ship
of State safe home to port,
The pilot with a carefree quip
When time and tide were fraught.
The D of E's a navy man,
Navy through and through,
His eyes some far horizons scan,
And there's salt in his humour too.
