AL ASSAD
Mad and bad rhyme with Al Assad,
Who'd want that peasant for their dad?
Driven by power and brutal need
To oppress all those who would be freed.
Trapped in tribal loyalty
They must suffer - as did we.
For every land must go through fire
If freedom is their real desire.
We sent our people into war
Until no one could keep the score
Of dead and maimed - the bloody cost
Of handing back what others lost.
Tyranny emerges with every age
And the crocodile you can't assuage,
But we have history on our side
To take our arm and be our guide.
So let us watch where we might tred
And recall the places we were led.
Every land has friend and foe
And either can deliver woe,
Good intentions don't excuse
The match that lights the deadly fuse.
Conflagration sparks with deadly ease.
And neighbours should get up off their knees
And act where distant lands should not
Lest their own dreams be forgot..
