Top Ten Non-Movers

I've something to say about the state of todays pop

Littered with watered down RnB and dodgy hip hop

Jumping about with manufactured dance moves, it's total visual horror

But I know their prime motive, it's their pursuit of the dollar

Today' it's all manufactured, pretty and slick

When I  look back at the early eighties it makes my heart sink

Okay there's muck and gems in every decade

But there are more stinkers now from Cowell and his brigade

I remember a time when music was'nt the same

Making original music was the name of the game

Punk and new wave delivered original stuff

And making money was less important as putting out guff

Even rap today should begin with a 'C'

Slickly dressed gangster swill with nothing to say

All done before with NWA

Smoking dope in flash cars with their Ho's on parade

That's why I listen to music of the past

I like my thrash metal it'spowerful and fast

Acts like Kreator, Anthrax, Slayer and Sepultura

Have much more to say about the world and it's increasingly bleak future

I've loved music - with a few exceptions which
shall remain nameless - for much of my life.
Indeed, I write songs, some of which feature
here and elsewhere. I came to adolescence in
the 50s - young enough to thrill to the daily
change in songs in the Top 20, with hits that
are "classics" of their kind now - but also old
enough to see what a singer like Frank Sinatra was about. He stayed with me through the years
- and his many recordings as his breathtaking (literally!) skills developed will never date.
He had - and will continue to have - something
for every generation as it grows to maturity.
The joy of music is, of course, its amazing
variety - and I thank my lucky stars for it.
