Trev in Texas 2014: San Antonio to McAllen

23.04.14: 111) The day broke, the sun shone, my tour carried on
McAllen my next place to dwell
Chamber of Commerce providing the hotel
So with great memories of last night’s event
Drivin’ down the road, once more I went
Thinkin’ of the St Georges flags that flew proud
When I spoke, an’ spoke out loud
The audience to amaze, Poem after poem about my travelin’ days
I-37 the road was clear, then 281 due south from here
Miles past the sky overcast
But onward I sped, as the road southward led
Soon I was all smiles when the sign said McAllen 22 miles
Soon on the internet in McAllen library I’m lookin’
For details of my hotel bookin’
Details found, to the hotel I’m bound
Amazed at what I saw, walkin’ through the hotel door
The next four days I’m gonna be, in the lap of luxury
Photos taken so I can show it
Is a step up for a poverty struck travelin’ poet
A part that I can tell is a part I can play so very well.
112) Suitcase unpacked, jeans hung up, tee shirts stacked
Text home “arrived safe” on this part of my roam
Air conditioning nice an’ cool, good view of the hotel pool
Weather changed an’ its hot Texas sun,
An’ another stage of my tour’s begun
113) Time to kill, gonna sit an’chill
Day’s travelin’ done, gonna bask in the sun
My friend’ll call towards the end of the day, an’ we’ll be away
To unravel the mystery of more Rio Grande history
