Chess
CHESS
- One small piece!
The sun rises,
Then sets and blessed are those
Who drift away, who centre
Souls and fall asleep.
Awake!
Money markets clatter
Importantly as if they matter,
A spatter of war shatters homes
And loathed I am to exist
In chains by this machine
Consultants click the keys,
Police investigate the “FREEZE”
And each way I look the pace
Follows rigid lines of a
Concrete place.
As a drill burrows roads for
An environmental kill,
And another bores holes for oil
To back up the ridicule,
I toil the day, seizing
Every opportunity to suspend
Belief in all this barren
City’s taught.
A Thunder Clap!
Helvelyn creaks the bones,
An ancient wood nestled
Silently strips the clothes,
A skinny dip with frogs,
The dragon flies and water
Vowels - unfolds a city kid.
I light a fire by the tent
And mesmerized I watch
An ancient crackle as I’m
Bathed within its smoke,
A little of the light,
A reprieve from stubborn
Quarrel, from power keen
To prove a point.
All is quiet!
And the insignificance of
Whom we claim to be
No longer intrudes upon my
Will, my thoughts, my mind -
My heart.
As dusk falls, and
Trees make shadows in
The dark, I’m blessed with
A shower, natures tears
For the passing hour,
An hour for the leaves of
Flowers where an
Urban risk, regains his
Strength, his tower of
Pride for all that mother
Nature hides
And sleep
Sleep
Sleep,
This day turned night
The heavens blessed me
Just
One
Small
Piece!
