I leant against the wall

entry picture

She lay tangled In my bed-clothes.

I watched trapezoids of summer light

make motes alive to the warmth.

I leant against the wall and

watched her breathing,

pale and shallow her rising breasts,

her hair webbed with sleep and

gripped to her belly my gown

since last I bathed.

I lowered my case-

and loved her more.

Hi Tommy,

"I lowered my case-
And loved her more."

The poem builds up to these two lines, edgy and taut. I can see it playing in my mind! Brilliant!

there's a great inner-rhythm to this Tommy and, as usual, your sparing use of words means that every one has depth and meaning - liked it a lot
