Father Christmas flies high,  so high

where the air is thin

 

and the children believe

as they have been told.

 

Father Christmas drops his men down

presents on tiny wings so fragile.

 

to keep them safe

      they can't believe in bombs

      and bullets as they tear down

      simple dreams.

 

though good men may come

with promises wrapped up

Father Christmas will fly off

to different suns.
