MORTAL REMAINS

he held on to his views as tightly

as a bullet in a breach

hammered them home

in the compression of a moment

his opinions unleashed

      with deadly aim and

nought but a duel

      could suppress them.

I met with him on the bleak moor

      and with luck and aim

blew out his brains

      scattering his thoughts and views

and the world was a better place

where the wind blew free o'er his mortal remains.
