Elf in the shed

Yesterday I met an elf

Sneaking around in my shed.

What's your name?

I heard myself say

Giorgio, but you can call me Fred.

So what ya doing here

On this cold and wintery day?

Am gathering silvery, glistening spider's webs

For Fairy Titania's wedding dress

Gladys, the wood nymph,

Is busy sewing them together

With fine, golden threads.

But just now she's hiding in that plant pot

Cos she's shy and scared of you.

Suddenly out popped a pixie, called Dixie

Who whizzed around so fast

He made me dizzy!

Shouting ' got to rush, got to keep busy

No time to chatter

Big day looms ahead and we're not ready

So bugger off! '....

And I swear, in the twinkling of an eye

They disappeared!

Hilarious, full of fast-paced fun, well-captured. It's not easy to be funny. Your background of associated literature is delightful to see, and recognise. 'Gnomes' never go out of style, in any age.
