Biography

I am 77 years young and have written a few things over the years that have been for my eyes only, as I didn't feel confident enough to allow others to read them! I tend to write when I see something or a place that makes me smile or makes me cry. Have been known to write about what may be construed as silly subjects too! Am retired and love painting and fishing but am not great at either activity! My poems don't even rhyme, so am not sure if I'm kidding myself that anyone else would be interested! I think I'm getting braver as I continue to scribble and have revisited stuff I wrote a good few years ago that until now I've not been able to read myself!! Too painful at the time, but I'm thinking that I can share now! Recently I have had to cease some activities such as fishing due to deterioration of health. My world is getting smaller but my thoughts and feelings are even more focused, can't explain that!

A Flower Among The Weeds They say that a weed is just a plant That's growing in the wrong place. Some are very pretty and others are not They creep into tiny spaces Between flowers that we choose to grow They shoot up all over the place In any crack or cranny One day they are not there Next day they're three foot tall! How do they do that? Today as I approached my house And surveyed the weeds along the path I was astounded by a tiny plant Displaying a beautiful red flower As I got closer I saw it's not a weed It's a very tiny petunia How it got there I cannot think! The question is - it grows among the weeds Does it make it one too? 'cos after all it's just a plant That's growing in the wrong place!
