HEAR THE JAZZ

See the river ever flowing

fix your eye upon a spot

all is rush, confusion,

your brain the absorber

of water life.

Now hear the jazz

      the victories of tumbling

      jostling circles of light

      thoughts on fire

      desire

      without end.

Music's life, it's joy

water and blood the same

swapping stories of continents

subdued, all there

in that spot.

Bring the world to watch and listen

      cross rhythms, melodies

      that rise and fall bursting

      to be told.

Hear the jazz.

There's still time enough

to march and grind

there and back wherever

your torturing trail leads.

Now stop your dealings, your tragic

      dispersements, robbing and blinding

      in Babel towers

your games that scorch the soul

all your toy views on the Thames

      through glass

      where swam in a shoal

      the working class.

Hear the jazz instead

be lost

get lost

live out your inner life

as the skin peels back.

We're on the same "hymn sheet" here. Thanks a lot.
It was inspired by a CD of Chet Baker "on a misty night."
I bought yesterday. For a fiver. masters of the craft in perfect sympathy. Not like the house of commons, come to think of it. Cheers Ray
