apoca(tu)lypse
i planted the seed
you gave me in a
pot by the back door
and at first it grew
in tiny increments,
angling its green neck
towards the salty sliver
of sunlight that spat
through the trees and
painted warm rorschach
questions on the wall of
my house.
as the bloom gained
strength and a bud
the colour of lapis
lazuli manifested
itself atop its now
robust stem i
moved the plant
from the pot into
a raised border
where it grew
teeth and began
consuming the
other flowers
and vegetables.
last night the
flower ate through
my wall and it has
eaten my wife and
it has eaten my arms
and legs and it is still
eating.

I like the title for a start Stu. This reminds me of the Day of the Triffids by Nigel Kneale. Black humour nicely turned out !
