DOOMED ATLANTIC FLIGHT March 1928

Mary McKay, O Mary McKay

with your fighter ace who lost an eye

and a fist of metal in Atlantic sky

flying low and flying high

you made the devil seethe and sigh.

The ocean a cauldron

a ne'er do well

with its sweating mountains

and foaming swell,

Mary McKay, O Mary McKay

why did you have to go and die?

You turned your sights from east to west,

a flight to America was the test,

and in the mirror of destiny

you saw your life and dreams go by..

Mary McKay, O Mary McKay

you fell asleep

your fist uncurled

and down you went with hopes of glory

into the deep of the waterworld

early flightheroism.
