FOOTBALL CRAZY

Once again (as I write) it's one-nil Leicester

As an unfashionable side seeks to invest a

small midland city with the laurels of glory

In the final chapter of an extraordinary story.

Oh dear oh dear - it's a red card for Vardy,

The referee's decision was hardly tardy,

So off goes the goal scorer to miss the next game

For playing a part that earned him the blame.

Will the Foxes hold out with only ten men

And manage to prevail one-nil once again.

I'm closing this little commentary in verse

Before anything changes and maybe gets worse

(for Leicester!).

For rhyming 'Leicester' with 'invest a' you deserve some kind of award! It made me laugh out loud. :-)

This could go to the wire! Not being a particular fan of
either Spurs or Leicester (or footie in general for that
matter unless it's the TV "highlights" and the internationals), I still enjoy the unexpected in sport and
Leicester has produced that in spades! But I can do
without all that grabbing and holding, along with the
diving and ganging up on the referee.
And now we have a breath of fresh air (literally) - a world record on snow from "Eddie the Eagle"!
What next?

As a Spurs fan of 50+ years, like Graham, I am hoping for an unlikely Leicester slip-up. But if it can't be the Mighty Spurs as champions then I root for the Foxes.

You'll be delighted to see that Leicester survive
If only via the effort of an outrageous dive
I for one will be happy to see your team croak
If we can get three points tonight up at Stoke!

During this unfashionable club's unexpected success, there
have been a number of 1-0 scorelines - hence my
interest in seeing whether it would continue against West
Ham. I discovered later the score had turned to 2-1
in favour of the latter club - only for Leicester to get a
very late penalty to draw level.
To be fair, as far as footie is concerned, I'm more of an Arsenal fan...and that's only because my sister and her hubby follow the club.
