Wonky Old Pots

entry picture

On a recent wet day down in London;

The bad weather it called all the shots.

Round the British Museum I wandered,

And saw all their wonky old pots.

They have got some amazing exhibits,

Gathered in from those ancient fleshpots;

Like the Roman and Greek marble statues,

But they’ve also got wonky old pots.

It is strange that the statues are perfect,

Whether kneeling or standing or squats;

But the pottery from the same places

Is just nothing but wonky old pots.

The big handles are dog-eared and ragged,

As if made by some three year old tots;

The result is the certain conclusion

That they all look like wonky old pots.

Wonky Old Pots - quite Stanley Holloway; and those pots do look inspirational - for a wet afternoon in the capita. Nice one, Trevor.
