TAKE ME DOWN
I'm weary of cynicism
so take me down
now to a cell to consider my thoughts
to work out the way the world really works
put me away
treat me bad
to save me punishing myself
and when i've found salvation
spread the word around
to save me from writing in excrement
on virgin walls
to everybody's detriment
an expression of reality
when the black mood calls

Colin - thanks for the upbeat response - I think that covers it. There may be an element of cynicism in it too which I really like!!
Thanks David, lots of ripe and relevant thoughts in response. I agree with it all and would just say that a strong sense of humour must be applied with each dose of cynicism to maintain that fresh alive feeling we all strive for. Your lines are almost a poem in themselves - are we singing from the same hymn sheet? Talking of Winston, I enjoyed the black and white TV version of 1984 from I think the fifties. Funny how Big Brother and Room 101 have merged into the reality TV world, not what Orwell would have imagined.
Thanks friends. Ray
