stargazer

on our backs

on the ground

in a dark sky town

you watched as I pointed

and cast lines among the stars,

telling stories to pull them to us from the deep;

with fingertips full of starlight

I turned to you and dabbed flashes,

tracing golden paths to shine upon your face...

the indelible vision of stardust

I once touched still remains--

a ghostly strobe forever burned

upon my eye to keep aflame

this lonesome traveling light.

Thank you very much, Andy. It means a lot to get comments from so many others whose writing I admire.

Beautiful moments and thoughts captured and made available to all who appreciate precious times. We can travel in as well as out.

Thanks so much, Suki, Colin, Hazel, and David. It's a subject I don't often write about, so I wanted to give it some attention. I'm glad that I was able to communicate something of what I felt--enchantment. Some rare experiences just seem to impress upon the heart and mind so profoundly that all else fails by comparison.

Thanks again.

think I may have posted a link to that clip before on one of your poems elP. Ah well, the memory is not what it used to be. Fading like the stars. ?
I pinched the 'enchanting' from Suki David :)

yes, enchanting. Hold on tight. I'm sure they would have seen the stars if the clip went on a bit longer...

A meditative imagistic poem to sink into. Enchanting.
