THAT OL' TIME RELIGION
It is reported that the new live Disney version of "Beauty and The Beast" is boycotted by
"Christian" elements in the South of the USA because it features a gay character as the best
friend of the male lead character. The selective choice of reasons for religious objections are a
matter of interest because I recall from my own brush with religious instruction that one of JC's
instructions was to "love thy neighbour as thy self".
Let us consider the following scenario for argument's sake. If a healthy young guy indulges in
self-inflicted enjoyment of masturbation and, having set his sights on another, reaches out to
him to "share the love", so to speak, how do these religious guardians of Christian teachings
justify condemning that action in virulent sanctimonious terms. Religious zealots seem to have
an eternal problem with what constitutes "love" & let themselves off the hook by refusing to mention
or admit its existence as the best policy when not using pruned pickings from "The Bible"
to support their cause, some of which are far from merciful or loving. Anyone volunteering to
sacrifice their son to accommodate their religious belief? Form a queue so we can write up
the charges for court!

I couldn't agree more. I think that if the established church
was a business, or an organisation not affiliated to a religious body, then they would be outlawed for their bigoted views.
when hoteliers refuse access to LGBT people on religious grounds and the law does nothing my blood boils.
elP --- I can't think of anything in the "new" testament either, but the old testament is full of bigotry
