SPRING TO ATTENTION!
Today marks the official first day of Spring,
(The Met. folk like a three-month thing).
March, April and May light the way ahead
To when Summer keeps us out of bed.
But when June, July and August are done,
And we say goodbye to their seasonal sun,
September, October and November
Soon fall due - with Autumn's stuttering ember
To lead us to wan Winter's chill
When December, January and February will
Darken our days till Mother Nature's invention
Of her new year brings Spring to attention.

This was encouraged by a remark from one of the TV
weathermen about how the 1st March was their first day
of Spring because they liked things in neat "threes".
Elsewhere, lines from the old David O. Selznick movie
sign came to mind: "Do not squander time, it is the stuff
that life is made of." I think that we can have different
appreciations of the seasons and often be happy to see
the back of one to welcome the next - something perhaps
to do with the idea that it is possible to have too much of
a good (let alone a bad) thing!
