Terminal Zoo

entry picture

Bedlam's enclosures echo

from trolley wheel thunder,

packed cases of the pack

in the jungle of unearthly delights

herds roam the manic

maze of terminal zoo

gazing, grazing and lazing

now duty-free, with one eye

on the gate that signals escape

from voluntary detention

alpha males indulge in feeding frenzies

as females seek scents

and food to placate the hysterical calls

of their yearning young

as the elders watch

bemused and excluded

unable to remember the steps

of their fight before flight routines

Thanks Stu, so pleased you liked this and picked up on the sense of claustrophobia, noise and bustle that I was trying to create.

And I agree entirely about being too near to numbers of people!

claustrophobic and full of noise and bustle. a great piece of descriptive writing, i felt almost uneasy reading it as my idea of hell is anywhere with more than three people within 50 metres.

Thanks Colin, Ray and Suki.

Col, I spent 4 hours on Thursday in Lisbon Airport Terminal 2 hell. Even Columbus would have struggled ?

Ray, I plan to avoid airports for as long as possible, flying has zip, zilch, zero appeal these days! Aythangyouw.

Suki, on Thursday I coped by writing about what was happening around me. I'm glad I did now! Staying with close friends until our furniture arrives. Moving is always stressful, eh? But now the relaxation has begun....thanks for your kind wishes.

Cheers to you all dear chaps.

You moved, and you had time to write a poem about the airport experience? You must be some kind of poetry Superman!

Hope the move wasn't too stressful.

Have a chilled weekend, Paul.

Harum scarem, Paul . I don't fly i'm afraid, so this scenario I've managed to avoid . Things before the threat of terrorism were much more civilized, when I last ascended.
You've conjured up a very real picture with plenty of detail and a sense of confusion- a feeling of the sense of being bombarded, reminiscent also of the modern rail terminus too.

"By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination." Columbus ?
