Soggy goings on...

Soggy goings on...

A heavy toxic mist rises from the swamp of Swonshon

a quagmire of disgusting green weeds

which coagulate in the fetid waters of their existence

The Swamp is vast and vile and wide

It ferments its filthy odour on the planet Soda

around its encrusted shores creatures vie for their sustenance

Above fly swarms of Swerdles

with jagged wings and bodies like needles

Inhabited by two horrendous breeds, Deroids and Gronts

both monsters of shapeless mass and bereft of colour

They loathe each other and forever squabble

as the torpid swamp heaves a bubble

The landscape is grotesque

with green, blue and black slime entwined in filth

No sun, a distant murky moon is where the grunts and groans

of Deroids and Gronts are seen to roam

Deroids have enormous appetites

and are known to  eat everything in sight

The Gronts on the other hand

have a diet which is really quite bland

Deroids are predatory and kill violently

even a Gront is not beyond their scope

Deroids go for what they can with intensity

whereas Gronts are far inclined to smoke dope

Deroids and Gronts share a common peril

which comes in the form of Aunty Beryl

This aged, wrinkled old witch

can at times be a real mean bitch

She lives alone in a nearby zone

close to Swonshon Swamp and quite alone

She frequently visits the swamp at night

when the Deroids and Gronts are out of sight

Aunty Beyrl has a particular delicacy

which is not for the faint hearted or any celebrity

She gobbles with voracity the Swonshon weed

leaving little for Deroids and Gronts and their feed

It is a distinctly unpleasant place

The planet Soda has been long forgotten

It is not fit for the human race

only for Deroids and Gronts and their begotten

a nice bit of nonsense. I've been reading quite a bit of Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear just lately, and this has elements of them about it.(yes I do need to grow up and start reading adult stuff). Deroids and Gronts work well as names.
I see what Ray means, the rhymes do get better towards the end.

Cheers Kevin.
